“I was a very shy and poor little girl who was never involved with other children or people in the community because I didn’t feel confident enough,” says Nimol.
A letter that changed everything.
Things started to change when Angela and Marc from Silverdale, kind Kiwis just like you, decided to become Nimol’s sponsor.
Angela and Marc’s sponsorship provided practical support and through child sponsorship activities in her community, Nimol began making new friends.
Nimol and Angela also built a life-changing personal connection as they began exchanging letters.
"I remember when I received a letter from my sponsor Angela once saying I’m a smart girl; she believed in me,” says Nimol.
“It made me feel special, like someone cares about me even though we never met.”
That connection became even more meaningful when Angela and Marc, along with their three children Anneke, Zachary and Keegan, travelled to Chi Kreng to visit Nimol in person.
A “dream come true” visit.
“I was so excited when I first saw them in the photos that came with their letters.
“It was my wish come true when my sponsor came to see me and my family,” says Nimol.

“Now, finally all of them are in front of me, face to face. It was an amazing moment for me, my family and my sponsors having time together.

“I felt so encouraged and motivated to become a better person.”

Along with the joy she felt meeting Nimol, sponsor Angela says her family had a beautiful time in Chi Kreng and it was so uplifting to see the children enjoy studying.
Angela was also encouraged to hear stories of change from the community as she and her family visited the community reading camp, joined in the children’s games, and met the pastor whose church works hard in partnership with sponsors to improve the lives of local children.
Finding her voice, shaping her future.
Today, Nimol is not only thriving in school, but also shining as a young leader in her community.
Nimol now dreams big: she wants to become a teacher to help children like her sponsor helped her.
As an active member of a local youth club that sponsors like you helped establish, Nimol attends life skills sessions every week.
“After joining the youth club, I saw myself gain more confidence, improve a lot of knowledge, and it keeps me stronger.”
Now she dreams of being a teacher to encourage the next generation.
“In the future, I want to become a teacher. I will help children in the same way that my sponsor did,” says Nimol.
Her father, Mam, is so proud of her. “I’m very grateful and happy seeing this change,” he says.
“Nimol has always been an amazing student. But before, she was nervous about herself. Now she speaks of her dream with so much hope. Her sponsor allowed her to believe in herself.”
Nimol’s story is no longer defined by shyness or scarcity. Thanks to a sponsor like you by her side, she’s living with strength, purpose and possibility.
